TARGETED SUCTION FOR OVERWORKED AREAS

A Focused Approach to Muscle Tension

Cupping therapy uses specialized cups to create controlled suction on the skin. The cups may remain in selected areas or be moved as part of the session, depending on your comfort and what Eli observes during your consultation. Many clients choose cupping when the back, shoulders, or other frequently used areas continue to feel tight.

Cupping feels different from hands-on massage. You may notice pulling, pressure, warmth, or a stretching sensation, but the treatment should remain tolerable. Eli adjusts the suction and placement throughout the session and explains what to expect before the cups are applied.

Offers a different sensation than massage pressure
Helps address areas that feel persistently tight
Can complement focused massage work
Encourages relaxation in overworked areas
May support comfortable movement afterward
Creates a personalized, targeted session

Is it right for you?

IS CUPPING THERAPY RIGHT FOR YOU?

A simple guide to help you decide before booking.

A good choice if you…

  • Have one or two areas that regularly feel tight or overworked
  • Want a focused session rather than a full-body relaxation massage
  • Are comfortable with suction and temporary circular marks
  • Want to combine cupping with targeted massage work
  • Can allow marks to fade before photos, travel, or special events

Please tell Eli if…

  • You are pregnant or may be pregnant
  • You take blood-thinning medication, bruise easily, or have a bleeding or clotting condition
  • You have varicose veins, reduced sensation, fragile skin, open wounds, sunburn, eczema, psoriasis, or an active skin infection in the treatment area
  • You have anemia, cardiovascular concerns, a pacemaker, seizures, or another significant medical condition
  • You recently had surgery, an injury, or a procedure in the area
  • You have fever, unexplained swelling, severe pain, or symptoms that need medical evaluation

Sharing your health history helps Eli decide whether to modify or postpone cupping. Choose Deep Tissue Massage if you prefer focused hands-on pressure without cupping marks, or Swedish Massage when relaxation is the main goal.

Frequently asked

Questions about Cupping Therapy

Everything you need to feel comfortable, prepared, and cared for.

What is cupping therapy?

Cupping therapy uses specialized cups to create controlled suction on the skin. At Kneads Massage, placement and suction are personalized around your focus areas, comfort, health history, and how your skin responds.

Does cupping hurt?

You may feel pulling, pressure, warmth, or skin tightness, but the session should remain tolerable. Tell Eli immediately if a cup feels painful or too intense so the suction or placement can be adjusted.

How long do cupping marks last?

Circular red or purple marks are common and may remain visible for several days; some can take a week or two to fade. The color varies by person and does not measure toxins or prove the effectiveness of the treatment.

Who should avoid cupping therapy?

Cupping may not be appropriate during pregnancy or for people with bleeding or clotting conditions, blood-thinning medication, certain cardiovascular conditions, fragile or broken skin, active skin conditions, infection, or recent surgery. Tell Eli about your health history and ask your healthcare provider when you are uncertain.
